Technical Updates: MySQL, XML::Parser, vcpan, and More
The following items are updated and available for your use on
FreeBSD and Solaris Virtual Servers:
-
MySQL
Version 3.23.37 is available for use on all FreeBSD and
Solaris Virtual Servers.
-
cURL
cURL is a command line tool for getting or sending files
using URL syntax. cURL supports a range of common Internet
protocols, currently including HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, GOPHER,
LDAP, DICT, TELNET and FILE. To install cURL, use the
vinstall command.
% vinstall curl
-
AWStats
AWStats (Advanced Web Statistics) is a free tool that
generates advanced graphical web statistics. This Virtual Server
log file analyzer works as a CGI or from the command line.
-
ht://Dig
The ht://Dig system is a complete Web indexing and
searching system for a domain or intranet. It is meant to
cover the search needs for a single company, campus, or
even a particular sub section of a Web site. As opposed to
some WAIS-based or Web server based search engines, ht://Dig
can easily span several Web servers. The type of these
different Web servers doesn't matter as long as they
understand common protocols like HTTP.
-
Expat
Expat is an XML parser written in C. It is most often
used as a library extension for modules like PHP and Perl's
XML::Parser. Use the vinstall command to install Expat.
% vinstall expat
-
XML::Parser
XML::Parser is an XML parser written in Perl. This
Pre-Packaged Perl5 Module
makes use of Expat (Expat must be installed on your Virtual Server if you're
going to use XML::Parser).
-
vcpan
vcpan is a wrapper for Perl's famous CPAN shell and Perl
module installation API. New features are documented in
the vcpan man page. Use the man command.
% man vcpan
